Challenge
As an in-house design team within an OEM company, we faced several challenges in bringing our designs to fruition. Three main challenges that we faced on this project included mass production, using existing Vestel platforms, and segmentation.
Mass production involves producing large quantities of a standardized product on an assembly line, which can be a challenge to coordinate and manage.
Using existing Vestel platforms allowed us to reduce production time and utilize the existing production line without incurring extra costs for the company.
Segmentation involves creating a consistent design language that spans different product segments, from entry-level to higher-end offerings. This helps create a cohesive brand identity and makes it easier for consumers to understand and navigate a company's product offerings. Managing this process can be a challenge, as it requires careful consideration of market segmentation and brand identity.
Result
In this project, I had the opportunity to work on the entire process of developing a new design for a dishwasher facelift. Our goal was to elevate the already simplistic design language of the dishwasher and create a clean, modern, and sophisticated look that meets the needs of international trade customers.
To achieve this, we refined the shapes of the dishwasher and defined rules for how matte printed technology materials could be used to create segmentation between product ranges. The resulting product design follows a sleek and minimalistic approach, with complex technological improvements that enhance its functionality and performance.
One of the standout features of the dishwasher is its matte control panel, which adds a touch of uniqueness and elegance while maintaining optimal visibility and style. This attention to detail and focus on user experience helped make the dishwasher a standout product.
The design was recognized for its excellence, earning the IF Design Award 2021. This accolade demonstrates the success of our efforts to create a product that meets the needs of customers and sets a new standard for dishwasher design.
